On Purpose
Lately, purpose has been worrying me. I worry about my fellow travelers who don’t realize their purpose in life.
Only recently have I become aware of the power of Purpose. Until I figured out why I am here on this earth - to serve and love the sacredness of every being, I was lost. I simply bounced around from wanting to make money because that buys happiness to wanting better relationships and back again. Wrong answers. Didn't work for me. Had to learn the hard way.
I found that any road will get you there if I am not careful. I have traveled down many-a-road in pursuit of what I thought I was seeking only to find hidden trap doors that taught me something I didn’t know previously and didn’t learn presently – until later.
I read Purpose Driven Life by Rich Warren and it blew me away by helping me put everything into perspective. I have discovered my purpose - at least for this part of my journey in life.
What I believe
Every thing and every one is born with a purpose in their own life as well as that of others. Quite often, we may not realize what this purpose is until a big "aha" in life - birth of a child, death of a loved one, our own mortality... We are all here on purpose. Nothing is an accident. This is a fundamental belief that helps me create the basis of my life story. Because without purpose, my life cannot have direction and fear becomes the main driver. My thought process follows quite simply... I could choose to believe that life is a series of random events. And if I did, I would naturally believe I am all alone in this world. This realization would cause fear and suffering in my heart. Purpose brings clarity.
I am not alone in this journey. I am surrounded by cool creatures who are on their own respective journeys. Many don’t know it. I am here to serve fellow travelers in life to help them get what they really want.
When I see others on their journey, I see hope and inspiration. Not unlike a perfect butterfly or flower. We are all perfect. It is amazing to me. Every human being I see is a miracle - not unlike seeing a spectacular sunset, beautiful mountains, or a beautiful painting.
We are all on a journey. We are going in the same places and different places. We meet one another - however briefly - on purpose. The short or long opportunity we have to engage and enrich one another - on purpose. Stuff happens. On purpose. We meet people. On purpose. We have flat tires. On purpose. Crap happens. On purpose. Cool summer breeze... Purpose. When I run into others who aren't in touch with why they are here on earth. Purpose. Someone is rude to me and my response is positive or negative. On purpose. Help rescue a stray animal that then brings hope and joy to others... Definitely on purpose. The opportunity to make a real difference in the life of those I run into during my journey. Purpose.
When I smile warmly at someone who scowled at me… Purpose.
The reality – it’s pretty easy to rip the world off of possibility. For me - it happens when I forget why I am here – to maximize others in their respective journeys. When I act as if life is not on purpose - I rip the world off of possibility. When I take for granted the brief introduction I have to another sacred human being - I rip the world off of possibility. Everyone is here for a reason. My role is to be a palm down server. I expect nothing in return - only the privileged opportunity to make a difference. Tomorrow is a new day. How much time do I have left? Enough to make a difference.
